FAMILIE TIES (2024)
cyanotype on linen, linen threat
The gradual loss of integrity in small spaces of everyday life. The boundary between fantasy and reality through impersonal participation. As a viewer, I am forced to wander endlessly within a fixed template, recreating the pattern of myself through inherited experience.
Family ties are a spatial system based on reflection on inherited experience, the search for a sense of belonging, and the inevitable distance from images of the past.
The image has undergone multiple stages of deconstruction. From a whole photograph, a virtual copy, breaking it down into its components, to reassembly, transferring the image onto canvas, toning, and combining it in space. The mechanics, combining the pattern of a collage and sprouting intertwining, anticipates the wandering gaze, wanting to catch hold of the elusive image.
